The Milling Machine

Milling is the process of machining metal by means of a rotating cutter with one or more teeth or an operation in which materials can be removed from a single or multiple-toothed rotating cutters. Milling machines comes in many different types and sizes. Each of the type is specially suited for a particular kind of milling operation. In general, there are three types of milling machines:

i)Knee-and-Column milling machine



ii)Manufacturing Milling Machine



iii)Special Milling Machine



However the most common type of milling machine used in the workshop is the knee-and-column mllling machine. It is a general purpose milling machine with a full range of speeds and feeds that can be controlled either manually or automatically. There are three styles of knee-and-column milling machines:

i)Plain
ii)Universal
iii)Vertical
